Norbert Tadeusz (1940–2011) was one of the most important figurative painters of his generation. His first solo exhibition took place in 1970 in the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf (today Kunstpalast), when Tadeusz was just 29 years old. In 1975 the Westfälisches Landesmuseum has shown his artworks for the first time in Münster. Today, both collections own artworks of this artist, who worked as a painter and teacher especially in Düsseldorf, but also for many years in Münster. The drastic depictions of Tadeusz's partly large-format works are imprinted immediately. Tadeusz presents objects from unusual angles, the female figures are often shown in extreme postures. He was fascinated by the motif of the woman - as mother goddess and embodiment of nature as well as a projection screen for his fears, longings and desires.
